B.E. designer Ruth Griffith leaves a last gift to each of us – a beautiful new design, which I have been honored to complete for her. It is named “Ruth’s Farewell” in her memory.
This design features variations of Ruth’s favorite dimensional flowers – a double English primrose, Ruth’s simplified new art deco orchid, windflower anemones, pansies, pinwheel daisies and the frosty desert rose. For added sparkle, seed beads may be substituted for French or colonial knots, but I have added several teachable features to her work .Interesting stitches include the cast-on pistil stitch, raised fishbone, corded detached buttonhole stitch, up-down buttonhole stitch and other favorite dimensional embroidery techniques.
